Dr Kumar is a highly respected senior Consultant Cardiologist, currently working across both Royal Preston and Chorley hospitals at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and the Lancashire Cardiac Centre in Blackpool, undertaking angioplasty and stent insertion.
For a decade he contributed to clinical and executive leadership roles whilst also leading an active clinical research and teaching programme. He is currently a member of the Royal College of Physicians.
Dr Kumar has broad experience in all aspects of adult cardiology and offers a range of investigations and treatments for cardiac conditions.
He is an expert in interventional cardiology including coronary angiography, complex percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI, coronary angioplasty and stenting).
He very firmly believes in providing a high quality and individualised approach to patient care. He regularly consults patients presenting with symptoms of chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, heart murmurs, dizzy spells and blackouts.
Dr Kumar was trained as a specialist in Cardiology in the North-West, Midlands and London Rotation for over seven years. He also undertook two years of active clinical research in the Lancashire Cardiac Centre and University of Liverpool.
He was former clinical lead for the Cardiac Network of Lancashire and Cumbria.
